Vintage handmade Slovak Christian needlepoint/cross-stitch textile featuring a large central cross surrounded by roses and floral motifs with devotional wording worked in Slovak. The text reads approximately “SVÄTÝ KRÍŽ / NA ŇOM / ZOMREL / PÁN JEŽIŠ,” translating roughly to “Holy Cross, upon it died the Lord Jesus.” The piece is worked primarily in wool yarn on an open-weave ground with a cream cotton border finished in decorative black cross stitching around the edges. Nearly complete, with only a small rectangular section near the upper portion left unfinished. A distinctive example of Central/Eastern European religious folk art and devotional needlework.

Very good vintage condition overall. Stitches appear intact, clean, and well preserved. There is age-related yellowing/discoloration to some of the unfinished cream cotton areas on the front and back. No major damage noted.
