Vintage crewel embroidery panel — the Raleigh Tavern, "Olde Williamsburg." Wool yarn worked by hand on a pre-printed linen twill panel: a colonial tavern scene with figures in period dress, a horse, and trees, with the "Raleigh Tavern" sign above and "OLDE WILLIAMSBURG" lettered below.
This is a PARTIALLY FINISHED kit piece: some stamped areas were never stitched (parts of the tree foliage and portions of the lettering are still outlines only). A wonderful find for a stitcher to complete, or to frame as-is for its folk-art charm.
